Amex Gold turned 60 and rolled out a set of benefit updates on April 30, 2026. No fee increase — still $325 — but a few things actually changed worth knowing about. Here’s what’s new, what’s gone, and whether it moves the needle.
What Changed: Permanent Updates
Hotels: 5x on AmexTravel.com NEW
Was 2x. Now matches what the Amex Platinum earns on the same bookings. Also bumped to 2x on prepaid car rentals and cruises booked through Amex Travel (up from 1x). Worth noting: booking through Amex Travel sometimes means giving up direct hotel loyalty benefits, so weigh that if you have status with Hilton, Hyatt, or Marriott.
Dining credit: Buffalo Wild Wings and Wonder added UPDATED
The $120/year dining credit ($10/month) now includes Buffalo Wild Wings alongside Grubhub and The Cheesecake Factory. Wonder is also added, though it’s only available in select cities. Goldbelly and Wine.com are being removed effective July 1, 2026.
Buffalo Wild Wings with 1,300+ US locations is a genuinely useful addition — it makes the $10/month credit easier to actually use without planning around it.
Hertz Five Star status NEW
Now included with enrollment. Skip the counter at select locations, add a driver at no extra cost, vehicle upgrades when available. Only useful if you rent cars regularly — but it’s a real perk that previously only came with premium cards.
What Changed: Limited-Time Offers
$96 Uber One credit Through Oct 30, 2026
Pay for an annual Uber One membership ($96/year) with your Amex Gold and get a statement credit for the full amount. Uber One includes $0 delivery fees on eligible Uber Eats orders over $35, 5% off eligible orders, and ride discounts. If you use Uber or Uber Eats at all, this is essentially free. Enroll before October 30.
20% Hilton transfer bonus Through May 30, 2026
Transfer MR points to Hilton Honors and get 20% extra. 100k MR → 120k Hilton points. Only worth doing if you have a specific Hilton redemption in mind — MR points are more flexible and generally more valuable than Hilton points, so don’t transfer speculatively.
Hotel Collection deals Through July 15, 2026
250+ properties with deals including complimentary 3rd/4th night, 25%+ off rooms, 30%+ off suites, $150+ property credits. Minimum two-night stay, book through AmexTravel.com. Good if you have a trip coming up before July 15.
What Didn’t Change
| Benefit | Value |
|---|---|
| 4x dining worldwide | Core earning rate — unchanged |
| 4x US supermarkets (up to $25k/yr) | Core earning rate — unchanged |
| $120 Uber Cash ($10/month) | Unchanged |
| 3x flights booked direct | Unchanged |
| Annual fee | $325 — no increase |
Is It Still Worth $325?
The math is pretty straightforward if you actually use the credits. $120 Uber Cash plus $120 dining credit already covers $240 of the $325 fee before you count anything else. Add the Uber One credit ($96 one-time) and Hertz status, and the credits more than offset the annual fee for most people.
The 4x on dining is where the real value is, especially if you transfer to airline partners. I transfer my MR points to Delta SkyMiles and use them for domestic flights — NYC, Orlando, San Francisco. Routes that would cost $300–500 in cash, booking for 15,000–25,000 miles. That’s the math that makes a $325 card worth it.
If you’re not using the Uber Cash monthly, can’t find a dining credit partner nearby, or you’re redeeming MR points for cash back or gift cards (bad value) — the case gets weaker. But if you’re actually using it, the Gold is still one of the better mid-tier cards available.
One thing to do now regardless: enroll in the Uber One credit before October 30, 2026. It’s $96 back for clicking enroll. Takes about 30 seconds.
